...blabbing incoherently again

Mondays.

God love ‘em, they’re really just another day but they get such a bad rap for their name.

Monday.

It means the first day of the week, when you up-and-at-‘em gotta go back to the proverbial salt mines after two days of real living.

But then, for me, this is a day off –the LAST day off of six days in a row I had to burn or I would lose ‘em back to The Job. Heh, and ain’t NO WAY I was gonna give up my time of real living back to The Job. No way in hell.

So for Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and now Monday I’ve pretty much just screwed off around the house. You know, sleeping in and that sort of thing and pretty much lummoxing around for the best part of the morning. Right now, after some recent rains, the lawn could use a mowing for the first time this year but…naaaah.

I wanna lummox around some more…

I did go in to work for about an hour or so late yesterday evening though. I knew my inbox would be jam-packed overflowing and as Sunday evenings are usually (read usually) slow I thought it would be a good time to sneak in and clean up accumulated blah-blah before going back to work full tilt Tuesday morning.

And of course there were a few shit storms smoldering and just waiting on me. Wished I could elaborate but…sorry, I cannot. Suffice it to say it’s always something around that damned place but nothing can’t be fixed. Heh, no hill for a climber, ya know.  ; )

~~~~
Let’s see…I’m forever one who’s gotta be looking forward to something! In mid May I’ll be running my first 10K. Yesterday afternoon I ran eighteen very hilly laps around “the berm” at the local football field. And why eighteen laps? ‘Cause eighteen laps makes six miles which is a…10K! Funny, but it wasn’t to long ago at all I could just barely do ONE lap! Now I can do EIGHTEEN! I’m still kinda slow as I just manage to sneak in under the one hour mark for this particular distance but…small steps! Progress comes but it sure does come slooooooooow.
~~~~

…and speakin’ of lookin’ forward to shit: another jump! I have a jump ticket that I positively-absolutely gotta use before July 5th. Wished I didn’t live so damned far from the Drop Zone ‘cause I could really get into this skydiving thing! But maybe I can squeeze in and manage to get ‘er done maybe two-three (dare I say four?) times a year. We’ll see…

Oh, and my youngest wants to go jump BAD! As he is not gonna be eighteen until next Christmas day he’ll have to wait a little longer since they won’t let you jump under that age no matter what. Hmmm…my wife says. Insanity must be a genetic thing…

~~~~
School.
Yep, I may have to go to a school for The Job sometime late June waaaaay down south for a week. That’s another thing but I ain’t exactly lookin’ forward to that at all.
~~~~

Due to several problems both anticipated and unanticipated and with the rising cost of gasoline, my foray back into the cattle business has turned out to be a brief one. It’s just going to have to wait a little longer until I can commit myself more to it. So, I sold out before I lost any money and bought some AT&T stock since interest rates are in the shitter. Heh, it’s the first time I ever bought an individual stock before and it’s kinda fun watching it –and so far, so good.

Again, we’ll see…

~~~~
A Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200XL.
Hmmm…been looking at a friend’s bike he has for sale –even took her for whirl. Didn’t think I’d ever been interested in a bike again (let alone another Sportster, lol) but, ya know, with gas getting’ like it is and all and…
Nah.
Better not. I’m one for pushing luck but not for heave-hoing it that much. Besides, been there-done that ya know?
But then on the other hand…
Ack! Mondays!
If Mama Cass and Karen Carpenter had a shared that sandwich then they'd BOTH still be with us today.
(Dear Lord I'm sorry for that one and bless all the little pigmies down in New Guinea Amen   )
hehehe. Yea, WE know! Sorry to say I am guilty of that as well.
Hey! No problem. I jump all the time. Out of Bed......Off the floor....to conclusions.
Would that be Rio? Kind of hard to get any further south and still speak english around your parts.
bought some AT&T stock
Might be a good choice. I was watching 60 Minutes and I think China bought a bunch of the same stock.
Good article, Roy. You're a damn good blabber.
. You're a damn good blabber.
Ditto.
I like Mondays during the school year because it means I get a few blessed hours of silence and peace if I want it.
My husband purchased a good lump of single stock some time ago when it was diiiiiirt cheap...now its doing ok, but even ok is good when you get something for darn near nothing.
Actually I need AT&T to drop like a stone -that is until after May 1st because that's when they pay a .40 cent dividend and thus farm it back into more AT&T! The cheaper it gets on May the 1st means the MORE of it ya get!
The thing is, I've always heard, is to buy low and sell high. Isn't this then the time to maybe buy?    Heh, who know!?!
Glad you got some time off. Adrian has a crazy amount of days accumulated, and I'm looking forward to him using them so he can work on the house! haha!
Your journey into fitness is inspiring. I am not a fan of running, but I do need to get on the treadmill and do some other stuff. I'm such a fatty now it's ridiculous. Too bad little miss Isabella won't allow me to do ANYTHING by myself! She needs a baby treadmill next to mine!
Enjoy the jump! I am amazed at all the cool hobbies so many JU'ers have. I'm boring!
Good luck with the stock. I can't relate as we have NEGATIVE money. haha!
Re: the bike. Adrian is looking to get a cheap used bike (something old-ish and Japanese, haha) with the "stimulus package" to save on gas. Don't know if it will help or not, but I think there's more to his bike thing than saving money! (I have to admit, though, it looks like a bike, even with insurance and all that would save us at least a hundred bucks a month...of course that means it would take over a year to recover the expense of the bike itself, I think)
Ah, a good 6 days off, eh?  Sounds nice...still gotta month left of this here schoolin'.  I still fall into the trap of hatin' Mondays.  My Mondays suck pretty bad...5 hours of class, sometimes an exam or two.  Long, shitty day.
Oh well, not much I can do about it...but complaining helps a bit.
High is...higher than you started out with. I think HOW high might be the question!
I am not a fan of running
I think those years of six man football and track way back when did something to me -I actually came to like it and then when the working week set in I let it laps and slide for so many years -although I have ALWAYS enjoyed long hikes and walks. Heh, when my boys were little we used to go on long walks all the time. It was in those times we really "connected" and talked and came so close. Funny, but walking with them was like my own little "head fake" (a term I'm stealing from Randy Pausch there, lol.) WWW Link with them. Anyway, I highly recommend it in these young years when your children are still finding their way.
I hate being poor!
TELL ME ALL ZA-BOUT IT! Been there, done THAT!
No shit, Zoo! THAT does sound sucky as hell! But keep thinkin' ONE MO MONTH!
I like Mondays. I don't know why. thursdays I could let go of.
I'm glad you had a good week off.
on Apr 14, 2008
Mondays have never been kind to me, except when I don't have to go to work.  But as I had last Friday off, there was no way I could do Monday as well.  I did a workshop last Thursday and I had to come in and apply all the new knowledge I'd picked up before I forgot it.
I'm planning on taking some time off at the end of May or the beginning of June.  Toni and I haven't had holiday together since June last year, so we're about due.
Hope the rest of your week is a good one, mate.
